‘The two farmers were first alerted to a high THI (Temperature and Humidity Index) thanks to the Bluetooth sensors on the Thermotool® device. “The farmer began by administering a course of bicarbonate and salt to his goats every fortnight. His sales representative then suggested introducing ThermoPlus® into his herd’s feed. The product was given to the entire herd. With no point of comparison, it was not easy for the farmer to quantify the exact improvement in milk production. Initially, a better distribution of the goats within the barn was observed. Regarding the animals’ feed intake: “Following a late restocking, we were forced to stop using ThermoPlus®. We immediately noticed a drop in feed intake. As soon as we reintroduced the product, feed intake returned to normal,” says the farmer. The condition and maintenance of the goats’ milk production depend on good intake of the overall ration. Looking back, the farmer admits that his goats are in better condition and that feed intake is maintained in summer with ThermoPlus®.”
