Simple, guaranteed individual nutrition with Deltabolus

Why use a bolus?

Every cow has different needs. The bolus provides an individualised supply of nutrients and avoids deficiencies at key periods (growth, drying up, etc.). The bolus makes life easier for breeders, as one application enables nutrients to be delivered over several weeks.

What is a bolus made up of?

A bolus is typically made up of active substances (vitamins, trace elements, plant extracts, etc.), a support and ballast. The ballast ensures that the bolus remains in the rumen and is not evacuated with the feed bowl. At Deltavit, we manufacture wax-coated boluses that disintegrate on rubbing and gradually release the active substances.

When should a bolus be used?

Grass tends to be deficient in trace elements, and levels vary. Providing trace elements at pasture helps to ensure a secure supply. Boluses can be a good complement to the ration when the individual needs of cows have to be adjusted. For example, Deltabolus Tarie provides antioxidants for dry cows, helping to reduce the impact of calving stress.

How long does a bolus last?

There are 3 types of boluses: instant boluses that are absorbed in a few hours, compressed boluses that disintegrate from 21 days to 3 months and long-release boluses that last 6 to 8 months. Whatever the disintegration time, it is important to ensure that the matrix erodes progressively and that there is sufficient release of active substances. At Deltavit, we work with a patented manufacturing technology for long-release boluses whose disintegration has been proven on cows. Our short-release boluses are subject to repeated laboratory tests.

The right Deltabolus for every need!
