Improving the performance of young cattle at the start of fattening [Breeder testimony]
Vincent Robert, La Colombière farm in Bannes (51):
- 2 open buildings, each with 200 places
- 330 kg animals entered in 2 groups
- Entry protocol:syncytial virus and IBR vaccination, deworming, enterotoxemia and Axion® ADAPT for 7 days
“For the first group, I monitored temperatures every 2 days for 2 weeks. Result: only 40% of the animals (80) had a fever during those 2 weeks. For the second group, where antibiotics had been applied on arrival, I didn’t notice any feverish animals and the start-up after the adaptation stage was better than the control group.”
Xavier Dufour, La Poste farm, Lavannes (51):
- 860 fattening places
- 90 animals enter every month
- Entry protocol: shearing, syncytial virus and IBR vaccination, intramuscular deworming, antibiotic cover and Axion® ADAPT for 7 days
“I monitor the temperatures every 3 days for 4 weeks and since I have been using Axion® ADAPT, I have noticed that the animals relapse much less: less care is needed, which saves 20 minutes every day! I can also see that the animals start off much better as soon as they switch to the fattening ration.”
