A successful experience with Deltalevures [Breeder testimony]

Live yeasts are probiotics that help to optimise the feed value of the ration, thereby boosting production performance.

“We started to add live yeast in July, during the summer period, in a ration consisting mainly of maize silage and, of course, pasture”. The yeasts were added at a rate of 50g of DELTALEVURES (i.e. 50 billion cells) per cow per day.

Effects after 2 weeks

“Two weeks after we started, we noticed a clear change in the structure of the dung. They were more homogeneous and less liquid, which is very difficult to notice over a grazing period. This improvement was also noticeable when the dung was sieved, where we observed a huge drop in undigested particles (-62%!)”.

A smoother transition

“When we switched to winter rations, we noticed that the transition phase went without a hitch this year.”

A profitable product

“From a more general point of view, the overall condition of the animals has improved, with a better coat and a healthier herd. The proof is that we didn’t have any reproductive problems over the 7 months we used it. We were won over by the technical validation process, as well as by the return on investment of this solution: for a daily cost of 9 centimes per cow per day, we estimate that we have doubled our initial investment!”

Better optimisation of fibre:

Live yeast stimulates the development and activity of fibrolytic bacteria. As a result, the rumen functions better and the fibre content of the ration is optimised. This parameter can easily be measured by sieving the dung. During the trial, the amount of undigested fibre over 5mm fell from 18.30% to 7%!

Same amount of ingested fibre + less undigested residue in the dung = better feed value = more milk! (or average daily gain!)
